June! The month everything goes barmy! Yes – our Shake The Dust project approaches its London regional final. You remember – five youth slam teams will be going head-to-head after months of honing their lyrical licks with our poet coaches. And it’s all happening on Saturday 16 June at London’s epicentre of spoken word (controversy alert), The Albany in SE8!
And even then it ain’t over, as there’s still July’s Shake the Dust National Final Weekend to look forward to. That’s spread over three days from 5 to 7 July. I’ll repeat that: 5 to 7 July. At the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre. Massive place on the South Bank. Can’t miss it.
Before all that erupts, though, there’s lots of other fine fare to tickle your tickleables: on Friday 8 June we present a Hegley-hosted selection of goodies up at Keats House. What is it with us and John Hegley? We can’t seem to leave the man alone. Should be a good ‘un, though – and the kind of line-up that the word ‘eclectic’ was invented for.
There’s another Creative Salon at Rich Mix on Thursday 14. Same venue but NOT same time: this one’s at 8pm, directly before Tilt’s latest London Liming show. All the more reason to come along and stick around for some fab spoken word.
And for all you parents/carers of bairns around the 2-5 mark, we’ve got the divine Rosie Harris fronting one of our StoryCraft sessions at Rich Mix on Monday 18 June. Ideal entertainment for that difficult age-bracket.
So there you have it. Hope to see your exquisitely sculpted face at one of the above. Oh, and did I mention the Shake the Dust national final in July..?
