Hello all,
A couple of weeks ago I was in Margate in The Tom Thumb Theatre for the first of a new spoken word/poetry series called Big Talk. There was open mic, there were poetry films and there were the guests Longfella (aka Tony Walsh) and Poeticat. We also managed to broadcast the show live on the interweb, which was brilliant, in fact it was all brilliant, and at the end someone said “How can we advertise this more? Very enjoyable evening but so many missing out on this!” So with that in mind, the next Big Talk will be on Friday 27 July at 7pm at The Tom Thumb Theatre. I’ll be badgering you about it more closer to the time, but now I’ve told you, you have no excuse not to be there, and please spread the word!
THE REMEMBERERS by Kenny Baraka took place last week in Southampton and the young audiences have been treated to a hip-hop live action graphic novel that has opened their eyes to the possibility of spoken-word theatre.
Coming up we have 451 on 18 June at The Nuffield with the curious A.F. Harrold and the curioser Sally Jenkinson plus open mic and an exciting announcement about the special guest for the August 451 (see events details below). Then on Monday 25 June we have the magnificent and exciting Shake the Dust Regional South East Regional Final here at the Nuffield in which 1 group of young people will be chosen from 5 teams to go to London to take part in the National Shake the Dust Weekend on the first weekend of July at Southbank Centre. It’ll be a hot and heady evening of youth poetry passion not to be missed!
Have a flaming June and keep poeting!
