Hello, September is upon us and the wise folk say that the nights are drawing in and soon we’ll be huddled round the fireside for warmth and comfort, but in my book that just means more time to share our wild and wonderful words of wisdom!

Apples and Snakes South East have plenty going on this month, starting with a supporting role in Wise Words Festival in Canterbury, where Lemn Sissay will be sharing his … er… wise words. We’re also witnessing the birth of a new open mic and performance night in Southampton, where ArtfulScribe‘s Archimedes Screw will be dragged kicking and screaming into the world by Matt West featuring open mic, local feature poets and spearheaded by National Slam Champ poet and rapper, Adam Kammerling.

Then, to round off September, at the Tom Thumb Theatre in Margate, we’ll see New York performance poet Jive Poetic and Birmingham spoken word artist Jodi Ann Bickley gracing the bijou stage alongside local poets and poetry films, creating a variety show of verse not to be missed.

I’ll be there, will you?

South East Coordinator

“just wanted to say thanks for one of the best poetry-info emails I’ve ever received. Hope to attend at least a couple of the events – brilliant!” London Snakebasket reader.
